This ship was built in 1888 at Johann Lange shipyard in Vegesack. As light vessel Weser I, the position was in the Weser estuary until 1966. After that she was positioned in the Elbe estuary until 1977 and named Elbe 3. In the beginning equipped with sails and without an engine she was refitted in 1936, electrified and she got her engine which works until today.
In 1979 Elbe 3 was transferred to the association 'Verein Museumshafen Oevelgoenne' in Hamburg as a museum ship. Since then Elbe 3 is anchored in the museum harbor Oevelgoenne. She possibly is the oldest running light vessel in the world.
